About Us

The Office of Faculty Affairs for the Columbia University Department of Psychiatry consists of a team of faculty members and administrative staff. The Office is headed by Dr. Scott Stroup, the Vice Chair for Academic Affairs and Chair of the Committee on Appointments and Promotions (COAP).

The main functions of the Office of Faculty Affairs are to provide administrative oversight for the appointments and promotions process; and to support career development for Department of Psychiatry faculty. Our goals are to increase the transparency of the departmental promotion process, facilitate access to opportunities for professional skills development and to work with the faculty to develop policies that will maintain a culture of transparency and robust diversity within the department. For department faculty, the Office offers an additional channel for confidential discussion and troubleshooting on career related issues. The Office of Faculty Affairs of the Department of Psychiatry acts as the liaison to Columbia University and the Dean’s office to facilitate communications and provide information about medical center and university-wide programs and policies. We aim to meet the needs of the department faculty. We welcome your ideas and comments. If you have questions, suggestions, or would like assistance please contact us.

There are three committees that operate as a part of Faculty Affairs:

Office of Clinical Psychology

Committee for Diversity and Inclusion

Women Faculty in the Department of Psychiatry (WFG)
